If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7, then you may already be making good use of the gadgets available in the sidebars. Customize them, edit them, or re-arrange them to suit your satisfaction.I found a few widgets that are funny and are very useful in our day to day computing.

1-Fb Explorer
Whether you use Facebook to connect with friends, the Fb Explorer Gadget is for you. An easy to use interface and simplified one-click setup is what makes this gadget special. It also lets you post comments directly, which makes it a perfect for quick posts when you don’t feel like logging in to the actual webpage.

2-Twitter Explorer
It’s made by the same developers of Fb Explorer (BuildAGadget) and its interface is similar. Some of its new features include being able to set the exact width and height of the Gadget and its color scheme. Of course you can post your own tweets and re-tweet posts. There’s also a button to view tweets that only you sent.

3-DigiClock
As strange as it may seem, clocks have always been one of the most popular gadgets on any modern computer. With over 20 clock applications tested, it was hard to pick just one, but DigiClock is my winner. It can match to any theme or wallpaper on your desktop. It has an intuitive interface lets you pick between a 12 or 24-hour time formats and best of all, you won’t need a calendar Gadget any more. DigiClock also shows the current date and day of the week. It’s the perfect complement to any desktop.

4-Quad Core CPU Meter
Monitoring your computer activity, processor usage and temperature is something vital when overclocking, gaming or running heavy video rendering programs. The Gadget that stands out to me is the Quad Core CPU Meter by Orbmu2k. It has multi-processor support a Graph or Filled view of recent processor usage, and a few different color themes to choose from. What really impressed me is that it has Everest and SpeedFan support. If you leave either of them running in the background it will display live temperatures by date and requires just a few clicks to set up.

5-QuickLaunch
There’s nothing better than a simple gadget that can keep all of your applications organized and ready to launch at any time – and that’s exactly what QuickLaunch does. It features 10 different themes, support for special shortcuts and more. It’s a handy Gadget for multitasking. It’s easy to set up and makes searching for programs a painless process.

When talking top-notch gadgets, QuickLaunch is definitely a choice. Just like DigiClock, it’s one of those simple, but genius ideas you rarely get to see anymore.

All versions of Windows 8 come with the built-in People app which lets you post on Facebook and Tweet. All updates can be read and even your address book is synced from your various social networking accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter and Skype.
All this is great and you can instantly see what’s going on through Live Tiles too. But what if you want a dedicated app for Facebook or Twitter that lets you manage your account like a ninja. By that, we mean that dedicated clients let you do pretty much everything and are more versatile in features than default apps, such as the ‘People’ app. You most definitely need a dedicated client for social networking if you’re a Facebook or Twitter junkie as well. You also have the ability to post things directly from browsers or within other apps.
So let us explore some of the Best Facebook and Twitter Apps For Windows 8 available so far in the Windows Store one by one.
Best Facebook Apps For Windows 8
There’s no official Facebook app for Windows 8 yet but third-party developers are doing a great job in creating feature-rich Facebook clients for Windows 8 users.
1. Facebook Touch
This app has been particularly designed for touch-screen enabled devices, but it works well with mouse and keyboard too. The interface is very beautiful. You can view your Newsfeed, comment and like on posts, post your Facebook status, chat with friends, managing Facebook pages and groups, visiting groups, and photos.
2. MINE for Facebook
Mine for Facebook is another Great Facebook client in the Windows Store. Newsfeed and notifications are shown on the front page of the app. You can also create customized Newsfeeds through which you can easily track updates of few particular friends. Others are the standard features like posting status and photos, commenting and liking on friends’ posts, etc. On the downside, this app does not support Facebook Groups.
Best Twitter Apps For Windows 8
For you Twitter addicts, the limited Windows Store does contain good third-party Twitter clients as far as features are concerned. So following are the best Twitter apps for Windows 8 users in our opinion.
1. Rowi
Rowi has a beautiful interface and is well suited for Windows 8′s Metro UI. Posting and retweeting tweets is very simple. Peforming basic as well as advanced tasks are dead simple. There are separate columns for replies, timeline and even lists. You can filter the tweets as per your wish and even share links to Twitter through Rowi from other apps. Auto-refresh of tweets can be set at a particular time interval. You can also track hashtags and keywords in this Twitter app.
Overall, Rowi for Windows 8 is a very capable client and we’re expecting more features soon.
2. MetroTwit
The feature that sets MetroTwit apart from the rest is it supports interactive tiles, thereby multiplying your productivity in the Modern UI. There’s support for multiple columns here as well, the only difference being that you can also pin specific columns to your homescreen for easily following all Twitter updates. Of course, the basic functions like posting tweets, Retweets and replying to mentions is easy indeed. The search tool for tracking hashtags and keywords is useful too.
MetroTwit for Windows 8 a blend of functionality and easy-to-use interface. A very good Twitter app for Windows 8 users.
3. FlipToast
FlipToast is one must-have social networking app on your Windows 8 system. You ask why? Just because it lets you update Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn-all rolled into one app. You can easily search and keep track of content from multiple sites. The usual juice includes basic Facebook functions such as like, comment on posts, viewing one’s Newsfeed and the same goes for the other social sites as well.

Installing all your favorite apps on your different Windows 8 systems from the Windows Store again and again can turn out to be quite a task, especially if you use dozens of applications. Here’s a simple trick in order to transfer windows 8 installed apps across multiple computers without sweating out.

Prerequisites:

Firstly you are required your existing Windows 8 system to be connected to a Microsoft Account. If you have not done that yet, you will have to link your Windows 8 account to a Microsoft account. This can be done by opening the Charms bar using the hot key Windows+C and then clicking on ‘Settings.’

In PC Settings, navigate to the ‘Users’ Option.

Next, the account process will begin and and you will have to provide your Windows account (your local account) details, which includes the username and password.

After that, your Windows local account will be successfully linked to your Microsoft Account.

Now begin the actual process of transferring all Windows 8 installed apps to a different PC.

Step 1: Launch the Windows Store from the Start Screen of the other PC you want to transfer apps to and right-click on any space in the Store window. A bar at the top will be displayed.

Step 2: Click on ‘Your Apps’ to view all apps downloaded and purchased by the particular account till date.

Note: If none of the installed apps are displayed, don’t worry. Make sure the other PC is in your list of trusted devices. All you’ve got to do is click on the confirmation link sent to you once you link your local account to your Microsoft account.

Step 3: Now click on ‘Apps not installed on this PC.’ from the drop-down menu under the ‘My Apps’ section.

You can select the apps you want to install specifically as well as in bulk.

Step 4: To install all your apps, just click on the ‘Select All’ option and go for the ‘Install’ button.

That’s it! All your selected apps will now be downloaded one by one to your different Windows 8 system.

VERDICT

This simple trick lets you , manage, install and transfer windows 8 installed apps across linked systems. It is also a good option if you want to use a paid app on your other Windows 8 devices, provided they are connected to the same Microsoft account.

Windows 8 is full of awesome features and handy shortcuts, but what you may not know is that it’s got a lot of handy, lesser-known settings under the hood. Windows 8 brings to us the best of both worlds- the ‘Desktop’ mode, which looks and feels a lot like gold old Windows 7. And there’s the all-new Start Menu, which is a radical change from the previous Windows OS versions.

If you’ve just upgraded to Windows 8 or are looking forward to upgrading to Windows 8, it may take you time to unearth all the useful and handy features and secrets Windows 8 has. So here are some features and shortcuts you might want to know.

1. The ‘hidden’ Start Menu

hidden features of windows 8You would already be knowing that moving your cursor to the bottom-left and clicking left makes you switch to the tiled Start Page. But clicking right-click will provide you with a menu linking to useful tools, including Control Panel, the command prompt and the Task Manager.

2. Sync your setting across Windows 8 machines

hidden features of windows 8A Microsoft Account can help you sync personalized settings across Windows 8 machines, useful if you use different PCs for home and work.

To configure this hidden feature, just launch the ‘Settings’ Charm, click on ‘Change PC Settings’ and open the ‘Sync your settings’ tab.

3. Take Screenshots easily and quickly

For taking screenshots earlier, you had to press Print Screen, then open up an app like Paint or the GIMP and paste in your screenshot from the clipboard. Nothing absurd like that in Windows 8. To take a screenshot in Windows 8, just press Win+Print Screen and the screenshot is saved in the ‘Pictures’ folder by itself. A very simple shortcut for taking screenshots.

4. Enable Start Screen Animation

When you first sign onto Windows 8, you get a very cool flow-y animation of all your tiles filling up the screen. After that, though, the Start screen has a much more toned-down animation. Not to worry, a simple registry tweak is what it takes to fix this. Open the Windows Registry editor by pressing Win+R and typing “Regedit”.

Tree to find HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionImmersiveShellGrid, and with the entry opened, right-click in the right-hand pane and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, which you should name Launcher_SessionLoginAnimation_OnShow. Open this, and change the value to 1, then click OK and close Registry Editor. When you hit the Start button, the tiles will be animated.

5. Adjust the number of Rows on the Start Screen

hidden features of windows 8The tiles in Windows 8 are as a grid, four rows deep. However, you can easily tweak this too. Open the Windows Registry Editor, Expand the tree to reach the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionImmersiveShellGrid and look for the entry Layout_MaximumRowCount. If it’s not there (it probably won’t be) create it by right-clicking in the right-hand pane and selecting New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Once created, double click the entry, set the Base to Decimal and alter the value – you can have as many as five rows. After making the change, click OK, close the registry editor and logout of Windows 8. When you log back in, the Start screen layout will have been altered. Simple, new rows will be added ready to be customised.

6. Schedule Maintenance of your machine

Yes, Windows 8 can now be scheduled to perform tasks like software updates, security scanning, and other important ones daily. Just go to the Action Centre and you can setup the time for scheduled maintanence and also perform it manually, if desired.

7. Enable Aero Lite

Yes, many people have missing Aero in Windows 8. To activate the Aero Light theme in Windows 8, press Win + R and enter Resources. Open Themes > Aero and copy aerolite.msstyles to the parent folder, Themes, agreeing to the instruction to make the change as an administrator.

Next, you will have to create a configuration file. To do so, copy the aero.theme and paste it to the desktop. Using Open with to view the file in Notepad, go to File > Save as… and save the document as aerolite.theme. You can then make the following changes:

Change line 5 to DisplayName= Aero Lite

Find the [VisualStyles] section (either by scrolling or using CTRL+F) and change the path entry to Path=%ResourceDir%ThemesAeroAerolite.msstyles

Save the file again and open Control Panel > Change the Theme or right-click the Desktop and select Personalization

That’s it! The Aero Lite theme will now be enabled.

8. Categorize Apps by groups

To neatly categorize the apps into particular groups or sections, just drag an app’s tile to an empty space on the Start Screen. It then creates its own group. If you want to name your groups—say, for “Work,” “Games,” and so on—you can do so by clicking the small button in the bottom-right corner of the screen and right-clicking on the groups.

There a lot of information on net to understand what is best Processor for you and which can fill your demand and really for some peoples its hard to understand and I will try to tell you in simple and in easy steps and here our topic is Intel Processor.

Intel processors usually have more L2 cache memory in them now also L3. The cache memory is the absolute fastest memory in the computer. It resides in the CPU. The more cache memory that you have means better performance will be for Gaming / Photoshop / Music editing. Intel processor chip sets are programmed with NVIDIA in mind.

L1, L2, L3 cache?

A CPU cache is a cache used by the central processing unit of a computer to reduce the average time to access memory. Cache Memory is a high speed memory kept in between processor and RAM to increase the data execution speed. It is kept near to the processor.

L1 cache is very small and very tightly bound to the actual processing units of the CPU, L1 cache tends to be around 4-128KB.

L2 cache is generally larger but a bit slower and is generally tied to a CPU core, L2 cache tends to be around 512KB to 2MB.

L3 cache tends to be shared by all the cores present on the CPU and is much larger and slower again, but it is still a lot faster than going to main memory.L3 cache tends to be of the order of 4-15MB these days.

When your computer’s memory is overloaded with junk, its performance is affected. The computer’s speed will slow down significantly, causing you a lot of frustration. It’s important to periodically clean unnecessary files, unused programs and harmful viruses from your computer to maintain optimal performance. As times goes on, your PC accumulates junk, crud and other unnecessary temporary files that makes your system slow, unresponsive which results in unexpected annoying system crashes. So, we’ll suggest you to clean out all the junk from your system and give it a new lease on life. How? Well, this post will elaborate all the finest ways to clean out Junk from PC.

1. Clean up Hard Disk

Let’s begin by cleaning up hard disk first of all. You can use inbuilt Microsoft Windows tools like Disk Clean up utility. You can find it under start menu>accessories>system tools>disk cleanup. For Mac you can download CleanMyMac for wiping off unwanted temporary files and installations leftover from the hard disk.

2. Remove Unwanted Programs

Next thing that you can do is removing out unwanted installed programs from your system drive. Every program installed on your hard disk is taking up space and it might be connecting to internet for checking updates. Further most, may be it is also initiating itself during system startup. So, what we are trying to explain that remove such type of programs that you don’t use anymore. It will definitely boost your system and internet speed up to some extent. For removing unwanted programs manually, you can go to control panel and uninstall programs from there.
3. Cleaning temporary Internet files

Temporary files are actually meant for boosting internet browsing but as always there is limit of everything; too many of such files puts your computer down. So it’s important to delete such type of temporary files atleast once a week. For deleting temporary files in Internet Explorer just wipe off the browsing history. In Firefox history can be cleared from tools and then “clear browsing history”. For deleting history in chrome, go to setting>history and then “Clear browsing data”. You can also use system utilities like Ccleaner for cleaning the temporary files of all installed browsers in a single click.
4. Empty the cache

Cache are also like temporary Internet files that are meant to boost Internet browsing but too many of cache in cache folder will slow down the browsing speed. If you’re an addicted browser, then we’ll suggest you to empty the cache folder after a couple of days, a week or so. For empting the cache folder using CCleaner, check in the “Preftech” box before performing the operation. You can also empty the cache folder manually, just go to “C:/Windows/Prefetch” and delete all files in it.
5. Manually cleaning out Junk from PC

Sometimes, it’s easy to clean your PC manually and if you know how to clean your PC manually, you can implement it anywhere especially when you don’t have any system cleaning utilities. Let’s see how we can manually clean our PC:

Manually cleaning temp folder: Open run by pressing win + R and type “%temp%” (without quotes) and press enter or click OK. On pressing OK, a folder will be opened. This folder contains temporary folders and files that can be removed safely as they are not required anymore.
Manually deleting browsing history: For deleting temporary files in Internet Explorer just wipe off the browsing history. In Firefox history can be cleared from tools and then “clear browsing history”. For deleting history in chrome, go to setting>history and then “Clear browsing data”.
Uninstalling unnecessary Programs: For uninstalling unwanted programs, you can go to control panel > uninstall programs and uninstall unwanted and useless applications from there.
Empty the recycle bin: We think that deleting files and sending them to recycle bin removes the files from the hard disk but this isn’t the case, sending them to recycle bin just changes the location of the file. So empty the recycle bin every time you delete a couple of files.

6. Popular utilities for cleaning PC

If you’re among those who want to clean out junk from PC with just a single click or on an automated scheduled time, then we’ve a shortlist for best and popular system utilities. CCleaner is best free basic utility for cleaning any system. Moreover, it is portable and free of cost. Another working utility – Simpliclean removes junk data effectively as well. For Mac OS you can download CleanMyMac for wiping off unwanted temporary files and installations leftover from the hard disk. For an automated scheduled cleaning routine you can try popular Tune Up Utilities which work in background to clean out junk and temp files automatically if scheduled.
